DCI conducts FTI IT Management Training

Top management and IT officers of the Food Terminal Inc. (FTI) started its Strategic Information Technology Management (SITM) Training conducted by the DBP Data Center, Inc. (DCI) on May 18, 2007. The training with its theme 'IT Governance in FTI' aims to inform the FTI management and IT officers on the basic concepts and best practices on Information Communication Technology (ICT). Mr. Richard Stohner, DCI Senior Project Manager and Main Speaker of the SITM Training, stressed to the FTI management the importance of IT Governance in a corporation.

In his lecture, he said that 'the traditional focus on technical solutions must give way to the understanding that IT is fundamentally a management responsibility and must be addressed at the highest level.

The SITM Training intends to inform the management of FTI on the latest developments in information technology and other related technologies; provide the management with the basic, knowledge, needed to analyze strategic and operational information technologies; and to enable the management to determine the relationships between current and evolving information technologies and the industry's business rules and practices.

The training is part of the Information System Strategic Plan (ISSP) that DCI is developing for FTI.

The ISSP blueprints how an agency shall utilize various IT components in streamlining and improving its business operations and processes.

This 3-year plan includes but is not limited to hardware, software and IT infrastructure.

FTI Vice President for Corporate Affairs Maria Theresa A. Pinto addressed her colleagues in her welcoming remarks, 'In our travel today, we will be taught of the concepts of I.T. in implementing the ISSP, these (information) are indeed precious for FTI. The value for information technology can never be undermined, it is a tool for decision making for the management and for easing the lives of the operations in the company.' said FTI President Bueno B. Castillo, 'This particular computerization of FTI intends to bring information to our people anytime, anywhere and make decisions faster and precise.

We would like to thank DCI for helping us making these goals possible.

DCI is a Government Owned and Controlled Corporation (GOCC) specializing in the field of Information Technology.
