DCI kicks-off another IT Project with DOT

MANILA - DBP Data Center, Inc. (DCI) officially began another IT undertaking as consultant to the Department of Tourism (DOT) for the upgrade of its Local Area Network (LAN) and the construction of its Data Center on Thursday, April 26, 2007.

In this project, DCI shall evaluate, and recommend when necessary, a new LAN layout and provide the specifications for the data center.

The company shall likewise assist DOT's Bids and Awards Committee (BAC) during the procurement process and manage the Agency's IT resources through DCI's Project Management Office.

The data center shall enable DOT to enhance the Tourism Portal with more information on various Philippine tourist spots, as well as provide online accreditation, virtual locator maps, hotel inquiries, booking and reservation, tourist guidance and tourism information subscription.

Providing these services online makes it easier for tourists to plan and schedule visits to the Philippines.

Furthermore, the data center shall allow DOT to use applications that will enable its head office and regional offices to exchange pertinent information faster.

This is among a series of plans in improving current procedures and IT systems, such as Human Resource Information System (HRIS), where employees can track HR related inquiries online and other agency wide information systems.

DCI signed the Memorandum of Agreement for this project with DOT on April 18, 2007.

DCI is a Government Owned and Controlled Corporation (GOCC) specializing in the field of Information Technology.

Its primary thrust focuses on providing Philippine Government entities with the technical, business process and change management expertise needed when embarking upon IT related projects.

This project is part of the DOT Information Systems and Strategic Plan (ISSP) 2007 - 2009, which DCI assisted in designing.

This project aims to support the agency's business operations in the areas of tourism promotion, tourism services, tourism planning & development and internal services.
